Dashboard Data Looks Wrong

If the numbers on your TraderNest dashboard do not look right — your P&L seems off, win rate looks too high or too low, or metrics do not match what you see on your exchange — work through this troubleshooting guide to identify the cause.

Common Causes and Solutions

1. Date Range Filter

Problem: The dashboard shows data only for the selected date range. If your date filter is set to "Last 7 Days" and you are expecting to see your monthly performance, the numbers will not match.

Solution: Check the date range selector at the top of the dashboard. Set it to "All Time" or the specific period you want to analyze. All widgets and KPI cards on the dashboard respect this filter.

2. Sync Still in Progress

Problem: If a sync is currently running, your dashboard may show incomplete data because not all trades have been processed yet.

Solution: Check SettingsExchanges for the sync status. If a sync is in progress (indicated by a blue loading indicator), wait for it to complete before evaluating your dashboard numbers. After the sync finishes, refresh the dashboard page.

3. Fee Inclusion Setting

Problem: By default, TraderNest includes all trading fees (maker fees, taker fees, and funding fees) in your P&L calculations. This means your P&L will be lower than the "gross" P&L shown on most exchanges, which often display P&L before fees.

Solution: If you want to compare your TraderNest P&L with your exchange P&L:

  1. Check your exchange — does it show P&L before or after fees?
  2. In TraderNest, go to SettingsPreferencesFee Settings.
  3. Toggle between "Include fees in P&L" and "Exclude fees from P&L" to see the difference.
  4. The Fee Analysis page in Insights shows exactly how much fees cost you in total.
Tip: We recommend keeping fees included in your P&L (the default). This gives you a realistic view of your actual profitability. Fees are a real cost and should be part of your performance assessment.

4. Currency Conversion Differences

Problem: If your display currency in TraderNest is different from the currency your trades were executed in, there may be minor discrepancies due to exchange rate conversions.

Solution: TraderNest applies approximate conversion rates for display purposes. For the most accurate view, set your display currency to USDT (the native currency for most crypto futures). You can change this in SettingsPreferencesDisplay Currency.

5. Missing Trades

Problem: If some trades are missing from the sync, your totals will be off. This can happen if the initial sync did not capture all historical data, or if some trades were made on a different sub-account.

Solution:

  1. Go to the Trades page and set the date range to "All Time".
  2. Count the number of trades and compare it to what your exchange shows.
  3. If trades are missing, check the "Trades Not Showing After Import" article for detailed steps.
  4. Try triggering a manual sync: SettingsExchangesSync Now.

6. Duplicate Trades

Problem: In rare cases, trades may be duplicated, inflating your numbers. This can happen if you imported the same CSV file twice, or if you reconnected an exchange and the deduplication did not catch all overlaps.

Solution:

  1. Go to the Trades page and look for duplicate entries (same pair, same time, same P&L).
  2. If you find duplicates, contact [email protected] with your account details. We can run a deduplication process on your account.

7. Win Rate Calculation

Problem: Your win rate in TraderNest might differ slightly from what you calculate manually because of how breakeven trades are handled.

Solution: TraderNest counts a trade as a "win" if the P&L (including fees) is greater than zero. Breakeven trades (P&L exactly zero or slightly negative due to fees) are counted as losses. This is the standard approach in most professional trading analytics.

8. Funding Fees

Problem: In perpetual futures trading, you pay or receive funding fees every 8 hours. These can significantly impact your P&L, especially for trades held over multiple funding periods.

Solution: TraderNest includes funding fees when they are reported by the exchange API. If your exchange does not break out funding fees separately in their API, they may be bundled into the trade P&L or missing entirely. Check the Fee Analysis page in Insights to see a breakdown of your fee types.

How to Report a Data Issue

If you have worked through all the steps above and your data still looks wrong:

1

Take Screenshots

Take a screenshot of the incorrect data in TraderNest and the corresponding correct data on your exchange.

2

Note the Details

Write down: the exchange, the date range, the specific metric that is wrong, and what the correct value should be.

3

Contact Support

Email [email protected] with the screenshots and details. We will investigate and fix any data discrepancies within 48 hours.

Note: Small discrepancies between TraderNest and your exchange (typically less than 1%) are normal due to rounding differences, fee calculation timing, and currency conversion. Discrepancies larger than 1% may indicate a real issue and should be reported.
