Filtering and Searching Trades

With hundreds or thousands of trades in your history, finding specific trades or analyzing subsets of your data requires good filtering. TraderNest provides a comprehensive set of filters that let you slice your trade history in any way you need. This article covers all available filter options and how to use them effectively.

Available Filters

The filter bar at the top of the Trades page lets you narrow down the displayed trades using the following criteria:

Exchange

If you have connected multiple exchanges, use this filter to show trades from a specific one. Select "All Exchanges" to see everything, or choose a specific exchange like Bybit, Binance, or Hyperliquid.

Trading Pair

Filter by the trading pair to see only trades on a specific instrument. For example, select "BTCUSDT" to see only your Bitcoin trades, or "ETHUSDT" for Ethereum. You can also type in the search field to quickly find a pair.

Direction

Filter by Long or Short to see only trades in one direction. This is useful for analyzing whether you perform better going long or short, which is a common pattern that many traders overlook.

Date Range

Use the date range filter to focus on a specific time period. Choose from presets (Last 7 Days, Last 30 Days, This Month, etc.) or set custom start and end dates. This filter applies to the trade close date.

P&L (Profit/Loss)

Filter to show only winning trades (positive P&L) or only losing trades (negative P&L). This is valuable for studying what your winners have in common vs what your losers share.

Strategy

If you have created strategies and assigned trades to them, you can filter by strategy to see performance for a specific approach. This requires a Starter or Advanced plan.

Tag

Filter by any tag you have applied to your trades. For example, filter by "FOMO" to see all trades you tagged as FOMO entries, or by "A+ setup" to see your highest-quality setups.

Searching Trades

In addition to filters, you can use the search bar on the Trades page to search by pair name. Type "BTC" to quickly find all Bitcoin trades, or "SOL" for Solana trades. The search updates in real time as you type.

Combining Multiple Filters

Filters in TraderNest are additive — meaning you can combine multiple filters to narrow down your results. For example, you could set:

  • Exchange: Bybit
  • Direction: Long
  • P&L: Losing trades only
  • Date Range: Last 30 days

This combination would show you all losing long trades on Bybit from the last month — a very specific view that can reveal patterns about where you are struggling.

Tip: Try filtering for your losing trades on a specific pair and studying what they have in common. Do they happen at the same time of day? Are they mostly on one direction? This kind of analysis is what separates traders who improve from those who keep making the same mistakes.

Clearing Filters

To reset all filters and see your complete trade history, click the "Clear Filters" or "Reset" button in the filter bar. This removes all active filters and returns the view to the default (all trades in the selected date range).

Summary Statistics Update

When you apply filters, the summary statistics above the trades table (total trades, win rate, total P&L, profit factor) automatically update to reflect only the filtered trades. This means you can quickly see the performance metrics for any subset of your data just by adjusting the filters.
