How to Connect Gate.io
Gate.io supports API-based trade syncing with TraderNest. Unlike some other exchanges, Gate.io uses a simple API Key + API Secret pair without a passphrase. This guide walks you through the setup process.
Create Your Gate.io API Key
Log In to Gate.io
Go to gate.io and log in to your account.
Navigate to API Management
Click on your profile icon and select "API Management" from the dropdown, or go to Account > API Keys in your account settings.
Create a New API Key
Click "Create API Key". Give the key a descriptive name like "TraderNest".
Set Permissions
Configure the permissions carefully:
- Futures > Read Only — Enable this permission. It allows TraderNest to read your futures trade history and positions.
- Spot — Not needed. Leave unchecked.
- Wallet — Not needed. Leave unchecked.
- Withdraw — Leave unchecked.
Gate.io has granular permission settings. Focus on enabling read-only access specifically for futures data.
IP Whitelist (Optional)
Gate.io allows you to bind your API key to specific IP addresses. For extra security, add TraderNest's server IP address (shown in the TraderNest connection dialog). If you prefer not to restrict IPs, you can leave this blank.
Complete Verification and Copy Credentials
Complete the required security verification (email, SMS, or authenticator). After creation, copy the two values:
- API Key (sometimes labeled "Key")
- API Secret (sometimes labeled "Secret")
Store both values securely. The secret is typically shown only once.
Connect in TraderNest
Add Gate.io in TraderNest
Go to Settings > Exchanges > Add Exchange and select Gate.io.
Enter Your Credentials
Paste your API Key and API Secret into the two input fields.
Click Connect
Click "Connect" to finalize. TraderNest will verify your credentials and begin syncing your Gate.io futures trades.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid API Key" — Verify that both the key and secret are copied correctly without extra spaces or line breaks.
- No trades found — Confirm you have executed futures trades on Gate.io. Spot trades are not imported.
- "IP not allowed" — If you set an IP whitelist on Gate.io, add TraderNest's server IP to the allowed list.
- Partial trade history — Gate.io may limit how far back API data can be retrieved. Very old trades might not sync.
