How to Connect KuCoin
KuCoin supports API-based trade syncing with TraderNest for your futures (KuCoin Futures) trades. Like several other exchanges, KuCoin requires three credentials: an API Key, an API Secret, and a Passphrase. This guide covers the setup specific to KuCoin's Futures platform.
Create Your KuCoin API Key
Log In to KuCoin
Go to kucoin.com and log in to your account.
Navigate to API Management
Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner, then navigate to API Management. You can also find this under Account Security > API Management.
Create a New API Key
Click "Create API". Enter an API name such as "TraderNest".
Set a Passphrase
KuCoin requires you to create a passphrase for the API key. Enter a memorable passphrase and save it. This passphrase is required by TraderNest during connection setup and cannot be recovered later.
Set Permissions
Under permissions, configure the following:
- General — Enable read access. This is the base permission for account information.
- Futures — Enable this to grant read access to your KuCoin Futures trading data. This is essential for TraderNest to sync your futures trades.
- Trade — Leave unchecked.
- Transfer — Leave unchecked.
IP Restriction (Optional)
KuCoin allows you to restrict the API key to specific IPs. You can add TraderNest's server IP here for added security, or leave it unrestricted.
Complete Verification and Copy Credentials
Finish the security verification. Copy all three values:
- API Key
- API Secret
- Passphrase
Connect in TraderNest
Add KuCoin in TraderNest
Go to Settings > Exchanges > Add Exchange and select KuCoin.
Enter Your Credentials
Paste the API Key, API Secret, and Passphrase into the three fields.
Click Connect
Click "Connect". TraderNest will authenticate and begin pulling your KuCoin Futures trade history.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid credentials" — Double-check that all three fields (key, secret, passphrase) are filled in correctly. KuCoin passphrases are case-sensitive.
- No trades found — Confirm that you have been trading on KuCoin Futures, not just KuCoin Spot. TraderNest only syncs futures trades.
- "Permission denied" — Return to KuCoin API Management and verify that the "Futures" permission is enabled for this key.
- API key suspended — KuCoin may suspend API keys that have been inactive for a long period. Create a new key if yours was suspended.
