How to Connect OKX

OKX is a major cryptocurrency exchange that supports API-based trade syncing with TraderNest. Like BloFin and Bitget, OKX requires three credentials: an API Key, a Secret Key, and a Passphrase. Follow this guide to set up the connection.

Requirement: API auto-sync requires a Starter or Advanced plan.

Create Your OKX API Key

1

Log In to OKX

Go to okx.com and log in to your account.

2

Navigate to API Settings

Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner and select "API" from the menu. Alternatively, navigate to the API Management section under your account settings.

3

Create a New API Key

Click "Create API Key" (or "Create V5 API Key" if OKX shows a version option). Enter a label such as "TraderNest" for the key name.

4

Set a Passphrase

OKX requires a passphrase for every API key. Enter a passphrase that you will remember — it must be between 8 and 32 characters. Write it down and keep it safe. You will need it when connecting in TraderNest.

5

Set Permissions

Under the permissions section:

  • Read — Select "Read" permission. This allows TraderNest to access your trade history and account information.
  • Trade — Do not enable this.
  • Withdraw — Do not enable this.

You may also see an option for "Derivatives" or "Futures" read access — make sure this is enabled so your futures trades can sync.

6

IP Whitelist (Recommended)

OKX gives you the option to bind the API key to specific IP addresses. For maximum security, enter TraderNest's server IP (found in the connection dialog at Settings > Exchanges > Add Exchange > OKX). You can also choose to skip this step and allow any IP, but whitelisting is recommended.

7

Complete Verification and Copy Credentials

Finish the two-factor authentication process. After the key is created, copy all three values:

  • API Key
  • Secret Key (shown only once)
  • Passphrase (the one you entered)

8

Add OKX in TraderNest

In TraderNest, go to Settings > Exchanges > Add Exchange and select OKX.

9

Enter Your Credentials

Paste the API Key, Secret Key, and Passphrase into the three input fields in TraderNest.

10

Click Connect

Click "Connect". TraderNest will authenticate with OKX and start pulling your futures trade history.

Troubleshooting

  • "Invalid passphrase" — OKX passphrases are case-sensitive and must match exactly. Re-enter the passphrase you used when creating the key.
  • "IP restriction" error — If you set an IP whitelist on OKX, confirm that TraderNest's server IP is included.
  • Missing trades — OKX may separate "Spot" and "Derivatives" API access. Ensure the read permission includes derivatives/futures data.
  • Key not working after creation — Some OKX API keys take a minute or two to activate after creation. Wait briefly and try again.
